The City of Carpinteria has adopted
ordinances to create and maintain a healthy, safe and beautiful
environment in which to live, work, and play. Code Compliance
Officers investigate, document and enforce the Carpinteria Municipal
Codes, the California Building Codes, Health and Safety Codes and
various state laws on public and private property regarding but not
limited to the following:

Violations such as garage conversions

Businesses in a residential district

Shopping Cart Abatement

Abandoned buildings, outdoor storage in the front yard,
construction debris

The issuance of various permits (i.e., massage and peddling) are also regulated by the Code
Compliance Division.

Brochures for massage, parking regulations, and animal control are available

picked up at City Hall, Planning Division, located
at 5775 Carpinteria Avenue, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Parking Enforcement and Abandoned
Vehicle Abatement
The enforcement of parking laws as provided by the California
Vehicle Code and the Carpinteria Municipal Code is managed under the
Code Compliance Division. Please call (805) 684-5405, ext. 413
or 418 to report a vehicle which you believe may be abandoned or for
private property vehicle abatement.
California Association of Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC)
Senate Bill 731 created the California Statewide Voluntary
Massage Certification, which allows massage professionals to work in
multiple California locations under one state-issued permit. CAMTC

If you
are certified through CAMTC as a Massage Therapist (CMT) or a
Massage Practitioner (CMP), you must still apply for and maintain a
Carpinteria Business License to practice massage in the City of
Carpinteria. The Business License one-time application fee is $45
and the Business License tax is $25 annually. Forms are available

Wipe Out Graffiti
The City of Carpinteria is responsible for providing a program for
the removal of graffiti from public and private property and has
adopted regulations to help prevent graffiti vandalism in the City.

Animal Care and Control
Code Compliance Officers provide Animal Care and Control services
daily from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. After hours animal control
is on an emergency basis via 911. All dogs are required to be
licensed, as well as leashed, in all parks and beaches. Dogs are not
allowed on the beach from Linden to Ash Avenue. Animal Control

Dog licenses can be purchased at the
Animal Medical Clinic, 1037 Casitas Pass Road (805/684-8665), Carpinteria Veterinary Hospital, 585 Walnut Avenue (805/684-3617),
and at City Hall with proof of current rabies
vaccination.

Community Development Department has forms to file a complaint,
