Notice is hereby given that the City of Carpinteria’s Architectural Review Board will hold a regular public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Carpinteria, California.

This is a time for public comments on matters not otherwise on the agenda but within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Architectural Review Board. Comments shall be limited to 15 minutes, divided among those persons desiring to speak, but no person shall speak longer than five minutes. Persons wishing to speak on a specific item will be recognized at the time the agenda item is considered.
The City is not responsible for the content of statements made during the public comment period, or the factual accuracy of any such statements.

1) Applicant: George Manuras Planner: Shanna Farley
Project Location: 5541 Calle Ocho
Hearing on the request of George Manuras to consider preliminary/final review
of a request to construct an addition of 549 square feet to the existing 1,760
square foot single family residence. The proposed addition would extend the
kitchen and dining area to the south and extend the master bedroom into the
front yard to the east. The project does not propose any alterations to the
landscaping. As part of the project, a non-conforming garage conversion would
be removed and the garage returned to a functioning two car garage. Colors and
materials will be presented at the meeting.
2) Applicant: Erinn Peterson, GPA Environmental Planner: Jonathan Leech, Dudek
Project Number: 09-1500-CUP/CDP
Hearing on the request of Erinn Peterson, GPA Environmental, agent for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), to consider conceptual review of a proposal to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes within the existing median along a six-mile segment of US 101 between Mobil Pier in Ventura County and Casitas Pass Road in Santa Barbara County. The proposed project would provide six total travel lanes (three northbound and three southbound) as well as 10-foot medians and shoulders through the communities of Mussel Shoals, La Conchita, Rincon and the City of Carpinteria. The project length within the City of Carpinteria is 2.2 miles.

NOTES: For those projects that do not require Planning Commission approval, recommendations for preliminary approval by the Architectural Review Board will be forwarded to the Community Development Director for a decision. Those Community Development Director decisions that are appealable pursuant to CMC §14.12.020(2) may be appealed to the Planning Commission. Appeals must be filed with the City Clerk within 10 calendar days of the Director’s action.
