Notice is hereby given that the City of Carpinteria’s Architectural Review Board will hold a regular public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Carpinteria, California.

This is a time for public comments on matters not otherwise on the agenda but within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Architectural Review Board. Comments shall be limited to 15 minutes, divided among those persons desiring to speak, but no person shall speak longer than five minutes. Persons wishing to speak on a specific item will be recognized at the time the agenda item is considered.

The City is not responsible for the content of statements made during the public comment period, or the factual accuracy of any such statements.

Project Location: 4415 Carpinteria Avenue

Zoning: Commercial Planned Development with a Residential Overlay (CPD/R)

Hearing on the request of Andrew Powell to consider Case No. 09-1507-DP/CDP for final review of a proposal to allow improvements to the property (i.e. landscaping, fencing, driveway, off street parking and painting) associated with the change of use of the property from residential to commercial office (Powell Electric). The existing 720 square foot residence to be converted to a commercial office would not be increased in size. The subject property is zoned Commercial Planned Development with a Residential Overlay (CPD/R) and has a land use designation of General Commercial (GC).

Project Number: 07-1385-CUP/CDP, Eighth Street Bridge Project

Hearing on the request of Charlie Ebeling, Public Works Director for the City of Carpinteria to consider final review of a request for a Conditional Use Permit and Coastal Development Permit to replace the existing Eighth Street Pedestrian Bridge with a new 165-foot steel arch style pedestrian bridge. The new bridge would be situated along the same approximate alignment as the existing bridge. The arches would be anchored into the abutments at the top of the creek banks and would provide support for the bridge deck. Total vertical rise of the arches as measured from the top of the bridge deck to the mid-span would be approximately 17 feet. The bridge would a have a clear deck width of five feet six inches and a railing height of 42 inches.

Those Community Development Director decisions that are appealable pursuant to CMC §14.12.020(2) may be appealed to the Planning Commission. Appeals must be filed with the City Clerk within 10 calendar days of the Director’s action.
